Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, we’ll begin our adventure with a private road transfer that takes us directly to the Olive Grove Guesthouse. Here, nestled in the calm embrace of lush gardens and under the wide, open skies, we find our first resting spot in the heart of Namibia. As we enjoy a welcoming breakfast and settle into our rooms, each featuring its own large veranda perfect for outdoor relaxation, we prepare to explore the unique mix of Windhoek’s historic and modern sights. Our exploration includes the Alte Feste fort, Christuskirche, and the Supreme Court, setting the stage for our exciting journey ahead.

Our day begins with a private road transfer back to Hosea Kutako International Airport, setting the stage for an extraordinary aerial journey to Wilderness Little Kulala Lodge. A thrilling flight across the vast landscapes of Namibia will afford us the gift of witnessing the breathtaking red dunes of the Namib Desert unfolding beneath us. This flight, lasting a little over two hours combined, offers a unique perspective on the world’s oldest desert, leading us directly to the heart of Sossusvlei.

The day promises an adventure into this unique ecosystem, starting with a morning nature drive. Amidst the vast, open desert, we might spot the desert-adapted oryx, springbok, and perhaps even a brown hyena, all thriving in this harsh landscape.

For those who prefer a slower pace, a guided walk offers an intimate exploration of the desert. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, you’ll learn about the resilient flora and fauna and the geological wonders that shape this ancient terrain.

After a discovery-filled morning, we’ll return to the lodge for well-deserved relaxation. Spend the afternoon soaking in the peaceful desert ambiance, marveling at the panoramic views, or cooling off in the lodge’s pool.

As we leave the serene embrace of Wilderness Little Kulala, our adventure takes to the skies with a scenic flight over Namibia’s vast dunes and rugged landscapes, heading towards the unique Wilderness Desert Rhino Camp. Our flight offers us a bird’s-eye view of the dramatic transition from the dunes to the stark beauty of the Palmwag Concession in Damaraland.

Today, the critically endangered Rhinos are the star of the show. You’ll have the rare opportunity to join anti-poaching rangers of the Rhino Trust of Namibia on a day of safaris to track the rare deserted adapted black rhinos. Once discovered, leave the land rover and go on a guided walk allowing you to get closer than you ever imagined. Our guides will find the perfect spot for a picnic lunch and sundowners at dusk.

Damaraland

After breakfast, go on a nature drive in the Palmwag Concession. This area is home to large mammals, including zebras, spotted hyenas, giraffes, and antelopes such as oryx and springbok. More rare are the desert-adapted lions, elephants, and even leopards. You’ll find that birdlife is prolific and diverse. Birding enthusiasts can tick Ruppell’s korhaan, Benguela long-billed lark, Herrero chat, and Verreaux’s eagle. Back at the camp, enjoy a massage and cool off with a dip by the pool. For the last night at Desert Rhino Camp, you may want to sleep on your private deck under the stars.

Hoanib River

After breakfast, fly to the magnificent Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. Arguably one of the most remote lodges on Earth, this superb desert camp is located in a remote area of the Kaokoveld, where gravel-strewn plains and dry riverbeds draw in rare and magnificent wildlife. In the afternoon, go on a guided nature drive along the riverbed’s narrow ribbon of vegetation, where a surprising array of desert-adapted animals can be found. This adventurous location is an ideal option for adventurous travelers seeking an off-the-beaten-track destination close to the Skeleton Coast and within the true Namib desert.

Skeleton Coast

The day trip to the mysterious Skeleton Coast will surely be a highlight. On the adrenaline-packed drive over the dunes, you may see a pride of desert-adapted lions on their way to the beach to lunch on seals. The Namib desert meets the sea at the legendary coast, and a special lunch is planned on the beach. There are shipwreck remnants and colonies of Cape fur seals. The birds are wonderfully diverse towards the coast, and you may be greeted by flocks of pink flamingos flying overhead along with long-billed larks. After exploring the coast, enjoy a private lunch on the beach take a private plane over the sea, and dune back to Camp for dinner under the stars.

Hoanib River

Today’s adventure is a safari in search of herds of desert adapted elephants, giraffes, hyenas, oryx and lions. As you drive along the dry riverbed of the Hoanib River towards the gravel floodplain of the Skeleton Coast, the area’s towering dunes and sporadic lush oases provide a stunning setting to get up close to the abundant wildlife. After lunch in a spectacular setting, return to the camp and take a dip in the pool, enjoy a massage, or just relax on your private deck and watch the animals come by for a drink at the watering hole. A guided nature walk at sunset from the camp to the top of a nearby hill and a farewell dinner under the stars is the perfect way to end a magical day. Enjoy a farewell dinner under the stars.

As our journey draws close, we bid farewell to the rugged beauty and serene isolation of the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. Following a final breakfast in the camp, amidst the early morning tranquility that defines this region, we’ll make our way to the private Hoanib airstrip. Here, our private charter flight awaits to carry us back to Windhoek. The flight provides a moment of reflection as we traverse the vast expanses of the Namibian landscape for the last time. This departure, though bittersweet, marks not just the end of our journey but also the beginning of a lifelong appreciation for the delicate balance of our natural world.
