Cairo

Steeped in millennia of history and mystery, today, we begin to peel back the layers of this fascinating civilization, with an enlightening tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, a comprehensive showcase of Egypt’s rich history from prehistoric times to the present day. As you wander through its galleries, you’ll be transported back in time, surrounded by artifacts that tell stories of daily life, religious practices, and the remarkable achievements of ancient Egyptian society.

Be sure to spend some time in the Mummies Room, where the remarkably preserved remains of pharaohs and nobles offer a fascinating glimpse into the rituals and beliefs surrounding death and the afterlife.

Next, we’ll venture to the iconic Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a sprawling complex that has been under construction since 2005 and is poised to become the world’s largest archaeological museum.

Next, we’ll venture to the iconic Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a sprawling complex that has been under construction since 2005 and is poised to become the world’s largest archaeological museum. This monumental project is on the cusp of its grand opening, and we’ll be among the privileged few to fully experience its wonders.

Within its halls, you’ll encounter some of the world’s most precious antiquities, including artifacts showcasing the grandeur of powerful rulers like Ramses II and King Tutankhamun..

But there’s more to discover at the GEM. We’ll also be treated to the captivating “Tutankhamun – The Immersive Exhibition.” This groundbreaking show, a collaboration with Madrid Artes Digitales, offers a fresh and enchanting perspective on ancient Egyptian civilization. Through state-of-the-art digital projections, we’ll journey through the life of the legendary Golden King, immersing ourselves in a mesmerizing audiovisual adventure that spans an astonishing 3,400 years of history.

Along with the immersive exhibition, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the museum’s grand staircase, featuring over 60 historically significant pieces that further enrich your understanding of this legendary king and his time. It’s a truly unique opportunity to delve into the fascinating story of Tutankhamun and experience the wonders of ancient Egypt in a whole new light.

After, we’ll trade the hushed reverence of the museum halls for the vibrant energy of Cairo’s streets. Navigating through the city’s bustling markets, historic mosques, and sprawling urban landscapes, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of Egypt today – a nation grappling with the challenges of the 21st century while still holding onto its rich cultural heritage and aspirations for a brighter future.

Cairo

The awe-inspiring achievements of ancient Egyptian architects and engineers have always been a mystery to the world. Until now, no one knows exactly how the pyramids were built, or how these ancient people achieved such astonishing feats of construction.

Today, you’ll have the opportunity to witness their grandeur firsthand as we journey to Saqqara, home to the world’s first pyramid, and Giza, where the Great Pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx stand as testaments to the ingenuity and ambition of a civilization shrouded in wonder.

Cairo to Luxor

While the pyramids may steal the spotlight, Cairo’s deep-rooted Christian heritage offers an equally compelling story. Old and Coptic Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the spiritual heart of Egypt’s Christian community, reveals a unique aspect of the country’s past. Here, within the ancient Roman fortress of Babylon, lies the Church of St. Sergius, believed to be built on the very spot where the Holy Family sought refuge during their flight from Herod.

We will then fly to Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes, to explore the sprawling Temple of Luxor dedicated to Amun-Ra. This “Southern Sanctuary” played a pivotal role in the annual Opet Festival, where the statues of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu were reunited, symbolizing the life-giving power of the Nile.

After sunset, the temple is even more beguiling. It transforms into an ethereal wonderland, its grandeur illuminated by soft lights that dance across the ancient stones. The Avenue of Sphinxes, lined with imposing statues of these mythical creatures, seems to stretch endlessly into the night, inviting you to step into a world of magic and wonder.
